Irregular Preterite There are several irregular verbs in the preterite. In this presentation, we’ll take a look at the most important ones.
SER- TO BE / IR – TO GO ser & ir> fu- –yo fui –tú fuiste –él fue –nosotros fuimos –ellos fueron
Hacer- To do or to make hacer > hic- –yo hice –tú hiciste –**él hizo** –nosotros hicimos –ellos hicieron It’s like the other irregular preterites, except it makes a spelling change in the él form: –hic- > hiz-
QUERER – TO WANT querer > quis- yo quise –tú quisiste –él quiso –nosotros quisimos –ellos quisieron
DECIR- TO SAY OR TO TELL decir> dij- Yo dije –tú dijiste –él dijo –nosotros dijimos –ellos dijeron
ESTAR- TO BE ESTAR > ESTUV- yo estuve tú estuviste él estuvo nosotros estuvimos ellos estuvieron
Poder- To be able to Poder > PUD –Yo pude –tú pudiste –Él pudo –Nosotros pudimos –Ellos pudieron
ESTAR- TO BE estar > estuv- –yo estuve –tú estuviste –él estuvo –nosotros estuvimos –ellos estuvieron Hey, no accent marks!
TENER- TO HAVE TENER > TUV- yo tuve tú tuviste él tuvo nosotros tuvimos ellos tuvieron
Poder- To be able to Poder > PUD –Yo pude –tú pudiste –Él pudo –Nosotros pudimos –Ellos pudieron
SABER- TO KNOW > SABER -> SUP yo supe tú supiste él supo nosotros supimos ellos supieron
Traer- to bring traer> traj yo traje tú trajiste él trajo nosotros trajimos ellos trajeron
DAR- TO GIVE DAR > DI yo di tú diste él dio nosotros dimos ellos dieron
