¿Cómo te llamas? *What is your name?… (Literally translates to “What are you named”)

Me llamo… *My name is… (Literally translates to “I am named”)

Señor *Mr. (Can be abbreviated “Sr.”)

Señora *Mrs. (married) (Can be abbreviated “Sra.”)

Señorita *Ms. (unmarried) (Can be abbreviated “Srta.”)

¿Cómo estás? *How are you?

¿Qué tal? *What’s up?

Estoy bien. ¿Y tú? *I’m well, and you? If you are talking to a friend or someone you know very well on an informal level. (Family, neighbor, etc…)

Estoy bien. ¿Y usted? *I’m well, and you? If you are talking to a stranger, boss, teacher, or someone that you don’t know very well.

Estoy mal *I am not doing well.

Así así *I’m alright.

Nada *Nothing.

Mucho gusto Nice to meet you!

Encantado **Delighted.

¿Dónde vives? *Where do you live?

Yo vivo en… *I live in…

Tengo que irme… *I have to go

¡Adiós! *Goodbye!

¡Hasta luego! *See you later!

In the morning, you can greet someone by saying… Buenos Días *Good morning.

To start a conversation in the afternoon, you could say… Buenas tardes *Good afternoon.

Buenas Noches *Good Evening/ “Good night!” After sunset … it means “Good evening” You also say “buenas noches” when saying “goodnight” to someone right before they go to bed.
