Verbs in Spanish What do we already know? They all end in –ar, -er, or –ir. In this base form they are called infinitives. All infinitives mean to do something.

Bailar – to dance

Cantar – to sing

Comer – to eat

Correr – to run

Escribir – to write

Leer – to read

Nadar – to swim

Patinar – to skate

Trabajar – to work

Hablar – to talk

Talking about likes and dislikes To say: I like I like to _______. Write: Me gusta Me gusta + infinitive verb. Example: I like to dance. Me gusta bailar.

The same construction is used to say that you like to do something, he/she likes to do something, we like do to something. There is one small difference. Te You like is: Te gusta + verb Le For he/she likes use: Le gusta + verb. Nos For we like use: Nos gusta + verb

Dislikes To say I don’t like or she doesn’t like, write the word no before the me, te, le, or nos. Example: I don’t like to write. No me gusta escribir. He doesn’t like to sing. No le gusta cantar.
