Cristo nos encomendó: “ID POR TODO EL MUNDO Y PREDICAD EL EVANGELIO A TODA CRIATURA.” MARCOS 16:15 Those words have continued to motivate faithful believers through the centuries, for Jesus commanded, “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”

En Chicago, Illinois, durante el Segundo Concilio General, el 23 de noviembre de 1914, L. C. Hall propuso: “Como Concilio, a través de la presente expresamos nuestra gratitud y agradecemos la bendición de Dios sobre este movimiento en el pasado.” In the Assemblies of God, the level of our commitment to reach the world was set when L. C. Hall stood in the second General Council, conducted at the Stone Church in Chicago, Illinois and presented a resolution which was unanimously adopted. It read in part, “As a Council, we hereby express our gratitude to God for His blessing upon this movement in the past.”

Now, 83 years later, as we look at our past we give thanks to God with a grateful heart once again for the victories that have been won around the world. The willingness of our missionaries to go and the faithfulness of our congregations to send them has resulted in great accomplishments. Today we have over 1800 missionaries in 158 countries of the world. That includes 82, 348 national ministers preaching in 178, 528 Churches and preaching points. Overseas, the Assemblies of God numbers more than 29 and a half million members and adherents. Almost 81,000 future and current pastors, evangelists and other Christian workers are being prepared in 1,412 resident and extension Bible Schools.

As a result of God’s great blessings upon these efforts, look at a sampling of the Churches growth in various parts of the world. The number of Churches in Russia has grown for 65 to over 1,000 during this decade. Malawi has grown from 150 to 1,300Churches in eight years. Cuba, just ninety miles off the coast of Florida, has seen Church growth skyrocket from 89 to over 1,800 in just seven years. The work in Bulgaria has increased from 98 Churches to 512 during the past decade.

This is done many times through large and small crusades that may last for several months until a Church is born. Churches birth new congregations through house meetings, outstations and annexes. More than a few Churches have begun with child evangelism such as Kid’s Clubs meeting on Saturday mornings. In many countries overt evangelism is prohibited so personal evangelism, or one on one, becomes the only method of planting the Church.

Hundreds of missionaries and mature national ministers give their time to the preparation of nationals to continue the work within their own country. This is done where possible in resident Bible Schools. Since not every worker can student in such an environment, extension schools are established in local Churches in key locations. Advanced training may be received in regions that include several countries. In some cases this is a roving campus, moving from region to region to meet the needs of busy pastors. Contributing also to the preparation of national pastors are special seminars, retreats, workshops and correspondence courses. Touching is expressed by medical teams sent by HealthCare Ministries to communities where little or no medical help is available. Doctors and nurses minister to hundreds of patients each days. Many accept Christ for the first time. This touching is expressed on a more regular basis where hospitals, clinics and children’s homes have been established.

We can rejoice that some 17,000 are coming to Christ each day on the continent of Africa. In Latin America, 9,600 are estimated to make a decision for Christ every 24 hours. Did you know that there are probably 500 million Pentecostals and Charismatics in the world today? Praise God for the advance of the kingdom!
