Irregular Preterite Verbs
The verbs “ir,” “ser,” and “hacer,” which are all frequently used, are irregular in the Preterite. Fortunately, “ir” and “ser” have the same forms in the Preterite.
IR – to go yofui tú fuiste usted, él, ella fue nosotrosfuimos ustedes, ellos, ellasfueron Yo fui al cine el sábado por la tarde. ¿A qué hora fuiste a la clase de inglés?
SER – to be yofui túfuiste usted, él, ellafue nosotrosfuimos ustedes, ellos, ellasfueron La fiesta fue a las ocho de la noche. Ayer, la clase de ciencias naturales fue muy interesante.

HACER – to do, to make yohice túhiciste usted, él, ellahizo nosotroshicimos ustedes, ellos, ellas hicieron ¿Qué hicieron ustedes anoche? Yo no hice mi cama esta mañana.
DAR – to give *Does NOT have written accent marks yo di túdiste usted, él, elladio nosotrosdimos ustedes, ellos, ellasdieron Él le dio flores muy bonitas a ella. Mis padres me dieron mi primero teléfono.
VER – to see *Does NOT have written accent marks yovi túviste usted, él, ella vio nosotrosvimos ustedes, ellos, ellas vieron Nosotros vimos nuestros amigos. Javier y Ana vieron una película muy interesante.
