El Mayor en el Reino The Greatest in the Kingdom

Luc 22:24 “Hubo disputa sobre quién de ellos sería el mayor”. Muchos creen que Pedro era “el mayor”, pero si lo hubiera sido, aquí mismo Jesús lo habría dicho. Lk 22:24 “there was a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest.” Many believe that Peter was “the greatest,” but if he had been, Jesus would have said so.

¿Es malo querer ser grande en el reino? De ninguna manera. El problema es el concepto erróneo de lo que constituye “grandeza” en el reino. Debemos ser “grandes” en el reino. Is it wrong to want to be great in the kingdom? By no means. The problem is the erroneous concept of what con- stitutes “greatness” in the kingdom. We should be “great” in kingdom.

Luc 22:25 “Los reyes de los gentiles se enseñorean de ellos; y los que tienen autoridad sobre ellos son llamados bienhechores”. Así es el concepto de la “grandeza” entre los mundanos. Lk 22:25 “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called 'benefactors”.The concept that worldly people have of greatness.

Aun en la iglesia: Escuelas para predi- cadores les dan diplomas, títulos, se encargan de iglesias, “Junta Directiva” También “ancianos patrocinadores”; exaltados pero no grandes en el reino Even in the church: Preacher schools give them diplomas, titles, take charge of churches, “Board of Directors”. Also “Sponsoring elders”; these are exalted, but not great in the kingdom.

Entre los hombres, el poder de regir sobre otros no implica necesariamente la habilidad de regir a sí mismo. Pero el hombre que pueda exitosamente servir a otros tiene bajo control su propio espíritu. Among men the power to rule over others does not necessarily imply the ability to rule himself. But the man who can successfully serve others has his own spirit under control.

Luc 22:26 “no así vosotros, sino sea el mayor entre vosotros como el más joven”. Mat 18:3 “si no os convertís y os hacéis como niños, no entraréis en el reino de los cielos”. Dar vuelta. Lk 22:26 “he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger”. Mat 18:3 “unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.”

Ser humildes como niño para apren- der la voluntad de Dios, para aceptar faltas y buscar perdón y reconciliación, para perdonar a otros, para confiar en Dios y para servirle fielmente. Be humble as a child in order to learn the will of God, to admit faults and seek pardon and reconciliation, to forgive others, to trust in God and to serve Him faithfully.

La paradoja divina: Mat 18:4, “ cual- quiera que se humille como este niño, ése es el mayor en el reino de los cielos”; es decir, para exaltarse, debe humillarse. (Mt 16:25, perder la vida para hallarla). The divine paradox: Mt 18:4, “whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven”; that is, to exalt yourself, be humble. (Mt 16:25, lose your life to find it).

Ejemplos de tal humildad: el centurión, Luc 7:1-10; la mujer pecadora que lavó los pies de Jesús, Luc 7:36-50; la mujer cananea, Mat. 15:21-28; María, cuando ungió a Jesús, Mar. 14:3-9. Examples of such humility: the centurion, Lk 7:1-10; the sinful woman who washed Jesus’ feet, Lk 7:36-50; the Canaanite woman, Mat. 15:21-28; Mary, anointing Jesus, Mk 14:3-9.

“y el que dirige, como el que sirve”. La grandeza verdadera no está en el mandar, dar órdenes y controlar a otros, sino en servir a otros. Jn. 13:4, como Jesús lavando pies de apóstoles “and he who governs as he who serves.” True greatness is not in com- manding, giving orders and controlling others, but in serving others. Jn. 13:4, Jesus washing the apostles’ feet.

Grandes en el reino. Dorcas, Hch 9:39; Febe, Aquila, Priscila, Rom. 16:1, 3, 4; familia de Estéfanas, 1 Cor. 16:15, 16; Gayo, 3 Jn. 5, 6. Sus nombres están escritos en el libro de la vida, Fil. 2:3. Great in the kingdom. Dorcas, Acts 9:39; Phoebe, Aquila, Priscila, Rom 16:1,3,4; house of Stephanas, 1 Cor. 16:15, 16; Gaius, 3 Jn 5,6. Their names are written in the book of life, Phil. 2:3.

Hay muchos ministerios: ancianos, diáconos, predicadores (públicamente y por las casas), maestros y maestras, directores de cantos, tesoreros, benevolencia, hospitalidad, etc. There are many ministries: elders, dea- cons, preachers (publicly and house to house), teachers, song directors, treasurers, benevolence, hospitality,etc

“Pero ¿qué puedo hacer?” ¿Cuántos textos quiere? Mat. 25:35-40; Sant. 1:27; 1 Tes. 5:14; Gál 6:1, 2; Heb 12:12, 13; 1 Ped 3:15; Judas 3. ¿Servir o sola- mente asistir? (Algunos ni eso). “But what can I do?” How many texts do you want? Matt 25:35-40; James 1:27; 1 Thess 5:14; Gal. 6:1, 2; Heb 12:12, 13; 1 Pet 3:15; Jude 3. Serve or only attend? (Some not even that).

¿Puede visitar, llamar o escribir a los visitantes? ¿Puede escribir a los que predican en México y otros países? ¿Cuántas de las miles de horas de celular disponibles para el Señor? Can you visit, call or write to visitors? Can you write to those who preach in Mexico and other countries? How many of the thousands of available hours on cell phone are for the Lord?

¿Puede repartir invitaciones? ¿Puede llegar temprano para recibir a los visi- tantes y darles una calurosa bienveni- da y detenerse después para una despedida apropiada? Esto es servir. Can you hand out invitations? Can you arrive early to greet visitors and give them a warm welcome, and remain afterwards for an appropriate farewell? This is serving.

Conclusión: La verdadera grandeza se encuentra en el servicio humilde. Jesús es el ejemplo perfecto. También Pablo, otros apóstoles, muchos santos cuyos nombres están escritos en cielo. Conclusion: True greatness is found in humble service. Jesus is our perfect example. Also Paul, other apostles, many saints, whose names are written in heaven.
