Hospitales han sido llamados así. Lugares para niños desamparados han sido llamados así. Lugares para ancianos han sido llamados así.

1.Que el viajero representa al hombre. Quién ha dejado la ciudad celestial (Jerusalén) por la mundanal (Jericó) 1. The traveler represents man, who left the heavenly city (Jerusalem) for the worldly one (Jericho) 2. Que los ladrones representan al diablo y el pecado, quien deja al hombre muriéndose en sus pecados. 2. The robbers are representatives of the devil and sin, who leave man dying in sin. 3. Que el sacerdote y el levita es una referencia a la ley y sus oficios, quienes NO pueden ayudar al hombre herido. 3. The priest and the Levite refer to the law and its sacrifices, which are unable to help. 4. Pero que el buen Samaritano es Jesús, quién provee de la ayuda necesaria. 4. But the good Samaritan is Jesus, who provides the help needed. 5. El vino representa la sangre de Cristo, mientras que el aceite es la unción hacia el herido del Espíritu Santo. 5. The wine represents the blood of Jesus; the oil, the anointing of the Holy Spirit. 6. El mesón representa la iglesia, mientras que el mesonero es una representación de los apóstoles; las dos monedas representan el bautismo y la cena del Señor. The inn is the church, the innkeeper representative of the apostles; the two coins represents baptism and the Lord supper.

25Y he aquí un intérprete de la ley se levantó y dijo, para probarle: Maestro, ¿haciendo qué cosa heredaré la vida eterna? 26Él le dijo: ¿Qué está escrito en la ley? ¿Cómo lees? 27Aquél, respondiendo, dijo: Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, y con toda tu alma, y con todas tus fuerzas, y con toda tu mente; y a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. 28Y le dijo: Bien has respondido; haz esto, y vivirás. 29Pero él, queriendo justificarse a sí mismo, dijo a Jesús: ¿Y quién es mi prójimo? 30Respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Un hombre descendía de Jerusalén a Jericó, y cayó en manos de ladrones, los cuales le despojaron; e hiriéndole, se fueron, dejándole medio muerto. 31Aconteció que descendió un sacerdote por aquel camino, y viéndole, pasó de largo. 32Asimismo un levita, llegando cerca de aquel lugar, y viéndole, pasó de largo. 33Pero un samaritano, que iba de camino, vino cerca de él, y viéndole, fue movido a misericordia; 34y acercándose, vendó sus heridas, echándoles aceite y vino; y poniéndole en su cabalgadura, lo llevó al mesón, y cuidó de él. 35Otro día al partir, sacó dos denarios, y los dio al mesonero, y le dijo: Cuídamele; y todo lo que gastes de más, yo te lo pagaré cuando regrese. 36¿Quién, pues, de estos tres te parece que fue el prójimo del que cayó en manos de los ladrones? 37Él dijo: El que usó de misericordia con él. Entonces Jesús le dijo: Ve, y haz tú lo mismo.

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" He said to him, "What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?" So he answered and said, "'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself.' " And He said to him, "You have answered rightly; do this and you will live." But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Then Jesus answered and said: "A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.' So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?" And he said, "He who showed mercy on him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

25Y he aquí un intérprete de la ley se levantó y dijo, para probarle: Maestro, ¿haciendo qué cosa heredaré la vida eterna? And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"

26Él le dijo: ¿Qué está escrito en la ley? ¿Cómo lees? He said to him, "What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?"

29Pero él, queriendo justificarse a sí mismo, dijo a Jesús: ¿Y quién es mi prójimo?." But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

30Respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Un hombre descendía de Jerusalén a Jericó, y cayó en manos de ladrones, los cuales le despojaron; e hiriéndole, se fueron, dejándole medio muerto. Then Jesus answered and said: "A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. De Jerusalén a Jericó, habían aproximadamente 20 millas. From Jerusalem to Jericho there were approximately 20 miles.

¿Cómo dejan al hombre? How did they leave the man?

31Aconteció que descendió un sacerdote por aquel camino, y viéndole, pasó de largo. 32Asimismo un levita, llegando cerca de aquel lugar, y viéndole, pasó de largo. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.

33Pero un samaritano, que iba de camino, vino cerca de él, y viéndole, fue movido a misericordia; 34y acercándose, vendó sus heridas, echándoles aceite y vino; y poniéndole en su cabalgadura, lo llevó al mesón, y cuidó de él. 35Otro día al partir, sacó dos denarios, y los dio al mesonero, y le dijo: Cuídamele; y todo lo que gastes de más, yo te lo pagaré cuando regrese. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.'

36¿Quién, pues, de estos tres te parece que fue el prójimo del que cayó en manos de los ladrones? So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?" 37Él dijo: El que usó de misericordia con él. And he said, "He who showed mercy on him

Un prójimo es alguien en necesidad a quién podemos ayudar. A neighbor is one in need whom we can help.

De los tres que pasaron, los primeros dos debían haber sido los primeros en ayudar… Of the three passers- by in the parable, the first two should have been the first to help.

Qué si los ladrones volvían. What if the robbers were still near by?

El Samaritano sacrificó aún más que tiempo y energía… The Samaritan sacrificed more than just time and energy.

Ve, y haz tú lo mismo. "Go and do likewise."
