Using the Indicative mood with habitual or past actions

Indicative for habitual actions  Use indicative with en cuanto, cuando, después de que, hasta que, and tan pronto como if referring to a habitual action (past habitual actions use the imperfect ).  Remember to use the subjunctive mood with these same phrases, if the referring to an action that hasn´t happened yet.

 You will also use the indicative mood, preterite tense for completed actions in the past.

Practica: Translate using the indicative, and decide if the action is habitual, or completed in the past.  1.When we´d visit my relatives I´d always talk to my cousins. Habitual or past completed?

 2. As soon as we arrived in class, the exam started. Habitual or past completed?  3.As soon as I finish an exam I like to listen to music. Habitual or past completed?

 Now decide if you would used the subjunctive (actions that haven´t happened yet) or indicative (habitual and completed past actions) and translate.  4.After Alicia told me what happened, I felt better.

 5.As soon as he arrives, we will prepare dinner.  6.History didn´t interest me until I went to Perú.  7.When my friend arrives in CA, I will practice Spanish with her.

 8.As soon as he arrived, everyone left.  9.I´m going to look for a job, when I finish high school  Voy a buscar un trabajo cuando termine el colegio.
