Basic Sentence Structure Subject Verb I swim everyday. Tom listens to music after class. Sally and Lucy dance at parties. Every sentence has a subject The subject tells us who is doing the action Every sentence has a verb The verb tells us what is being done.

Subject Pronouns function as the subject of a sentence: I You We He/she We They Yo Nosotros Tu Él/Ella/Usted Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes

The Verb Infinitive The action only Does not have a subject Translated as “to___” Example: “to run” No one is running, it is simply the action Always end in ar, er, or ir in Spanish To find the “stem” or “root” of a verb, simply take off the AR, ER, or IR at the end The stem is an important part of the verb
