Los verbos All verbs in Spanish end with –AR, -ER or –IR. We have learned 2 verbs already. Under which category of verbs do they fall?

Los verbos Both ‘ser’ and ‘tener’ are irregular because they do not follow a regular pattern of endings. The verbs which end with –AR that we will learn today all follow the same pattern which makes them a lot easier! 

-AR verbs you should know… hablar-to speak estudiar-to study enseñar-to teach levantar- to raise contestar-to answer tomar- to take mirar- to look at escuchar- to listen trabajar- to work sacar- to get/to take out llevar- to wear/to carry regresar-to return necesitar- to need navegar- to navigate/surf buscar- to look for enviar- to send comprar- to buy pagar- to pay

Los Pronombres Personales (Subject Pronouns) Singular yo tú él / ella / Ud. Plural nosotros X ellos / ellas / Uds.

Every verb has 2 parts: STEM + ENDING Hablar = habl- Prestar = prest- Estudiar = estudi- Trabajar = trabaj- Levantar = levant- Mirar = mir- Escuchar = escuch- Enseñar = enseñ- Regresar = regres- Comprar = compr- + AR

To form the present tense: STEM + Verb ending -o -as -a -amos -an

Por ejemplo…: Hablar- to speak habl ar habl o as a amos an

Por ejemplo…: Estudiar- To study estudi ar estudi o as a amos an

Por ejemplo…: enviar- to send envi ar envi o as a amos an

¿Cuál es la forma correcta? nosotros hablamos él habla hablar

¿Cómo se dice en español? I answer a question in class. She’s buying a green book. They (those girls) take a difficult test. We work a lot in history class. You (tú) are looking for a black backpack. You guys pay attention in Spanish class today. Yo contesto una pregunta en clase. Ella compra un libro verde. Ellas toman un examen difícil. (Nosotros) trabajamos mucho en la clase de historia. Tú buscas una mochila negra. Uds. prestan atención en la clase de español hoy.

¿Cómo se dice en español? He studies English at 10 am. Who’s taking a test today? Elena gets a good grade in social studies. I return to school at 5 pm! We are studying lesson 3. They navigate the internet on Sundays. Él estudia inglés a las 10 de la mañana. ¿Quién toma un examen hoy? Elena saca una nota buena en los estudios sociales. Yo regreso a la escuela a las cinco. (Nosotros) estudiamos la lección 3. Ellos navegan la Red los domingos.
