3 Present Perfect used to talk about events or actions that have already occurred consists of the present tense auxiliary (helping) verb haber plus the past participle of a verb

5 Past Participles AR Infinitives remove the AR add –ado (bailar = bailado) ER/IR Infinitives remove the ER/IR add –ido (vivir = vivido) *always end in –o in the perfect tenses

6 Past Participles verbs that have stems ending in a vowel need an accent mark over the i in the participle ending: caer – caídooír - oído traer – traídocreer - creído

7 Past Participles Spanish verbs that are usually irregular follow the same rules: ir – idoestar – estado ser – sidosaber - sabido

8 Irregular Past Participles abrir – abiertover - visto decir – dichovolver - vuelto hacer – hechocubrir - cubierto poner – puestomorir - muerto escribir – escritoresolver - resuelto romper - roto

9 ¡Super Importante! the helping verb and the past participle can NEVER be separated ex: yo + bañarse = me he bañado
