2 Until now, to express the future tense, we’ve used: ir + a + infinitive.  Voy a escuchar la música.I am going to listen to music.  Pedro va a pintar un mural.Pedro is going to paint a mural.  Vamos a ver una obra de teatro.We are going to see a work of art. In this module, we have a set of endings that let us express what someone will do.  Escucharé la música. I will listen to music.  Pedro pintará un mural.Pedro will paint a mural.  Veremos una obra de teatro.We will see a work of art.

3 Study the following future tense forms of comer: yo comer é Nosotros comer emos tú comer ás Vosotros comer éis él, ella, Ud. comer á ellos, ellas, Uds. comer án Here’s the good news:  The above endings work with most –ar, -er and –ir verbs. All three types have the SAME ending! Just remember:  Instead of dropping the ar, er, or ir from the verb, you simply ADD the ending to the infinitive (for most verbs).  There are accents in every form EXCEPT for nosotros.  They are extremely important!

6 As you may have suspected, the future tense also has some irregular verbs. However, the endings are not irregular, the stems are. The irregular verbs can be grouped together according to the type of change that occurs in the stem. The first group of verbs substitutes the letter “d” for the infinitive ending of the verb: *** OJO: Notice that the are all “GO” verbs! *** Poder: (to be able) podré, podrás, podrá, podremos, podréis, podrán Poner: ( to put) pondré, pondrás, pondrá, pondremos, pondréis, pondrán Salir: (to go out) saldré, saldrá, saldrá, saldremos, saldréis, saldrán Tener : (to have) tendré, tendrás, tendrá, tendremos, tendréis, tendrán Venir: (to come) vendré, vendrás, vendrá, vendremos, vendréis, vendrán The next three verbs drop the “e” in their ending: Caber: (to fit) cabré, cabrás, cabrá, cabremos, cabréis, cabrán Haber: (to have) habré, habrás, habrá, habremos, habréis, habrán Saber: (to know) sabré, sabrás, sabrá, sabremos, sabréis,sabrán
