3 Saber: To know facts/how to… Supe, supiste, etc. ej: Juan supo de su nota ayer. Juan found out about his grade yesterday. Sabía, sabías,etc. ej: Juan sabía que salió mal. Juan knew that he had done poorly.

4 Conocer: To know people/familiar with places Conocí, conociste… ej: Conocimos a Oprah un día en mayo. We met Oprah one day in May. Conocía, conocías… ej: Nosotros no la conocíamos antes. We did not know her before.

5 Poder: To be able Pude, pudiste… ej: Pudiste comprarte un PS3 el año pasado. You (succeeded in buying yourself) a PS3 last year. Podía, podías… ej: Podías ver muchos videojuegos diferentes en las tiendas. You were able to see many different videogames in the stores.

6 Tener: To have Tuve, tuviste… ej: Susi tuvo una carta de su novio. Susi received a letter from her boyfriend. Tenía, tenías… ej: Susi tenía un novio que nunca la escribió. Susi used to have a boyfriend that never wrote to her.
