Los verbos reflexivos In English, you use the reflexive pronouns myself, yourself, and so on when the subject performs an action on itself. In Spanish, you use reflexive pronouns in several ways. 1. To say that subject acts upon itself. -Yo pienso vestirme bien hoy. I plan to dress(myself)well today. 2. To express reciprocal actions. (to each other) -Nos vemos. We see each other. -Se hablan todos los días. The speak to each other everyday.

Despedir=to dismiss, to fire Hacer=to make,to do Ir=to go Llevar=to carry Quedar=to be left, to be located Poner=to put, to place Volver =to go back Despedirse = to say good-bye Hacerse +noun= to become Irse= to leave Llevarse= to get along Quedarse= to stay Ponerse +adj= to become, to get Volverse+ adj= to turn

In Spanish, you many not necessarily use the corresponding prepositions in English. You must learn each expression along with its preposition.

Some expressions with “a” -acostumbrarse a =to get used to Me acostumbré a vivir en Charleston. -atreverse a =to dare to No me atreví a pedirle ayuda. -ayudar a= to help to Ella me ayuda a terminar el trabajo. -negarse a= to refuse to (e-ie) Yo me niego a trabajar con Juan.

Some expression with “en” -confiar en =to trust Nosotros confiamos en ti. -consistir en=to consist of Esta receta consiste en ingredientes frescos. -fijarse en=to notice Te fijaste en los rquisitos necesarios para ese trabajo. -pensar en-to think about Pienso en ti cuando no estás.

Some expression with con -bastar con= to be enough (to) Para ese puesto basta con una carta de presentación. -casarse con-to marry Ellas se casa con Juan. -contar con-to count on (o-ue) Nunca puedo contar contigo. -encontrarse con-to meet (up with) (o-ue) Podemos encontrarnos con ustedes más tarde. -soñar con-to dream of/about Yo sueño con ganar el lotto.

Some expressions with de -acabar de + infinitive=to have just done something Yo acabo de limpiar la casa. -acordarse de=to remember to/about Me acodrdé de llamar a Juan. -darse cuenta de=to realize No se dieron cuenta del problema que tenían. -encargarse de=to take charge/care of Tienes encargarte de tus problemas.
