Interrogatives
15
When we use question words in Spanish, they carry ACCENTS when they are asking a question, but they don’t carry accents when they are in the MIDDLE of a sentence where they serve as a conjunction. Some of them have masculine, feminine, and plural forms:
16
Interrogatives ¿Quién/es? ¿Qué? ¿Dónde? ¿Cuándo? ¿Por qué? ¿Cómo? ¿Cuál/es? ¿Cuánto/a? ¿Cuántos/as?
17
Interrogatives ¿Quién/es? ¿Qué? ¿Dónde? ¿Cuándo? ¿Por qué? ¿Cómo? ¿Cuál/es? ¿Cuánto/a? ¿Cuántos/as? Who / Who all? What? Where? When? Why? How? Which? Which ones? How much? How many?
18
Conjunctions quien / quienes que donde cuando porque como cual / cuales cuanto / cuanta cuantos / cuantas
19
Conjunctions quien / quienes que donde cuando porque como cual / cuales cuanto / cuanta cuantos / cuantas who, who all that, than where when because as, like, how which, which ones as much as all those
20
Prepositions In Spanish, we cannot end a sentence or a question with a PREPOSITION. So if we want to ask a question with a preposition, it goes before the interrogative (question word).
21
Prepositional Interrogatives ¿A quién? ¿De quién? ¿Con quién? ¿Hasta cuándo? ¿Por cuánto tiempo? ¿A qué hora? ¿De dónde? ¿Adónde?
22
Prepositional Interrogatives ¿A quién? ¿De quién? ¿Con quién? ¿Hasta cuándo? ¿Por cuánto tiempo? ¿A qué hora? ¿De dónde? ¿Adónde? To whom? Whose? With whom? Until when? For how long? At what time? From where? To where?
23
Word Order When we write a statement in Spanish, we put the SUBJECT first, then the verb. When we write a question in Spanish, we put the VERB first, then the subject.
24

26
Práctica ¿_____________ está tu hermana? ¿_____________ está ella allí? ¿_____________ hora comienza la fiesta ¿_____________ van a estar en la fiesta? ¿_____________ puedo ayudar con la fiesta?
27
Práctica ¿Dónde está tu hermana? ¿Por qué está ella allí? ¿A qué hora comienza la fiesta ¿Quiénes van a estar en la fiesta? ¿Cómo puedo ayudar con la fiesta?

Preterite Tense
29
Big Idea Up until now, all the verbs you have learned are in the PRESENT tense. Today is the beginning of a major phase of your Spanish learning – starting on the past tenses! There are two past tenses that we’ll learn this year – the PRETERITE and the imperfect. For now we’re going to learn how to conjugate preterite verbs. Preterite verbs are used to tell us main events that happened in the past.
30
Preterite of AR Verbs
31
Idea Grande If you have a normal AR verb, this is the process to conjugate it in the preterite tense. This means it happened one time in the past.

Preterite of Hacer
49
Big Idea Even though hacer isn’t an AR verb and it isn’t conjugated like ir, ser, dar, or ver, it’s hard to start using the preterite until we know how to conjugate hacer. So this is how you conjugate hacer in the preterite:
