The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This is the picture version of the story. Click on the yellow button to hear the audio of the written text. The idea is that the pupils will work towards retelling the story, with or without prompts, by the end of this unit.

One Sunday morning a little caterpillar comes out of the little egg. It is really hungry and looks for something to eat. Un domingo por la mañana una oruga pequeña sale del huevecito. Tiene mucha hambre y busca algo que comer.

4 El lunes come una manzana pero aún tiene hambre.
On Monday it eats an apple but it is still hungry.

5 El martes come dos peras pero aún tiene hambre.
On Tuesday it eats two pears but it is still hungry.

6 El miércoles come tres ciruelas pero aún tiene hambre.
On Wednesday it eats 3 plums but it is still hungry.

7 El jueves come cuatro fresas pero aún tiene hambre.
On Thursday it eats 4 strawberries but it is still hungry.

8 El viernes come cinco naranjas pero aún tiene hambre.
On Friday it eats 5 oranges but it is still hungry.

9 El sábado come un pastel, un helado, un pepinillo, una loncha de queso, una rodaja de salchichón…
On Saturday it eats a cake, an ice-cream, a gurkin, a slide of cheese, a slice of salami...

It builds a house, a cocoon, and stays there for more than 2 weeks. One day it makes a little hole in the cocoon and pushes outside. Se construye una casa, un capullo, y se queda allí durante más de dos semanas. Un día hace un agujerito en el capullo y empuja hacia fuera.

14 Se ha convertido en una hermosa mariposa.
