Grammar explanation direct objects receive the action of the verb The cat eats the food. direct object pronouns (DOP) take the place of the direct object noun The cat eats it. (referring to the food) Tengo el pasaporte. Lo tengo.

“a personal” When a person is the direct object of a sentence, then the “a” is required. Invito a María para viajar a México. No vemos al auxiliar de vuelo. But when the DOP is used, the “a” is not used. La invito para viajar a México. No lo vemos.

DOP with an infinitive when an infinitive follows the conjugated verb, there are two options: 1.DOP before conjugated verb 2.DOP attached to infinitive No voy a hacer la maleta. 1.No la voy a hacer. (common in Spain) 2.No voy a hacerla. (common in LAm)
