Gender of nouns Nouns that end in “a” are usually feminine. Nouns that end in “ción”are usually feminine. Nouns that end in “o” are usually masculine. Nouns that end in L O N E R S it’s masculine. THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE so learn the article in front the noun!!!!!!

Plural Nouns If a noun ends in a vowel add “s” If a noun ends in a consonant add “es” If it ends in a Z change the “z” to a “c” and add “es” alumnoalumnos alumnaalumnas profesor profesores lápizlápices

Definite Articles “the” El= singular masculine La = singular feminine Los = plural masculine Las = plural feminine

Indefinite Articles = “a” “an” “some” Un= singular, masculine Una= singular, feminine Unos= plural masculine Unas= plural feminine

Accordance= agreement The article and the noun must agree in number and in gender. If the noun is feminine the article must be feminine If the noun is masculine the article must be masculine If the noun is plural (more than one) the article must be plural
