El Día de los muertos 3 y 4 de noviembre de 2014 Español 1, 2 y 3 Hola, Thanks for taking my class today. This lesson will be done for all three of my classes as it is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and other places throughout the Latin American world. Just follow the slides and complete each activity. I will have everything you need set out for you for the days I am gone.

Have the students open their notebooks to section 1 and answer the following questions. 1. What do you do on Memorial Day? 2. With whom do you celebrate Memorial Day? 3. Why is it important. Spanish 1 writes in English, Spanish 2 and 3 need to answer it in Spanish. Give them participation #1 Dibuja una Calabaza- a pumpkin What do you do on Memorial Day? 3 El Video: El Día de los Muertos
Ve el video: El Día de los Muertos. (Watch the video : Day of the Dead.) Escribe vocabulario importante del video. (Write important vocabulary from the video.) Escribe en el Apuntes sección. Show the class the video, El Día de los Muertos. Have them write important vocabulary from the video in their Apuntes (note) section of their notebook. When they are finished have them draw a skeleton for Participation #2 Participación #2: Dibuja un esqueleto-skeleton

Participación #3 Dibuja un altar- Word search Completa la sopa de letras con tu compañero. LA POESíA Hand out the papers that have the word search and the acrostic poem on them. Have the kids complete both activities and turn them into the box when they are complete When they complete both give them Participation #3 and 4. Escribe un poema acróstico usando las letras en Día de los Muertos. Participación #4: Dibuja papel picado- Cut paper (poem)

5 Bring some things you can glue onto an art project next class period.
La tarea: Bring some things you can glue onto an art project next class period. Write a paragraph describing what you learned about Día de los Muertos. Give the following as homework to each of the classes. Spanish 1 they need to bring things to decorate an art project that we will be doing next time. Spanish 2 needs to write down 4 things that are important for Day of the Dead and explain why they are important. Spanish 3 needs to bring things to build put on the altar that we will be building. They also need to write about 2 people they respect and why they respect them. Hand out the Day of the Dead Suckers to the class members. Participación #5 Dibuja un marigold.
