Yo soy… ( I am…) Yo tengo… (I have…) Yo soy alto, rubio y serio. (I am tall, blonde and serious.) Yo soy baja, morena, y amable. (I am short, dark-haired, and friendly.) Yo soy pelirrojo y interesante. (I am red-headed and interesting.) Yo tengo ojos azules y pelo corto y negro. (I have blue eyes and short, black hair.) Yo tengo ojos de color café y pelo largo. (I have brown eyes and long hair.)

3 Más adjetivos When describing someone’s physical characteristics or personality traits, you normally use a form of the verb ser followed by an adjective. Yo soy cómico y atlético. Tú eres graciosa e inteligente. ( y changes to e in front of the letter i) Mi tío es guapo, pero él es antipático. Mi tía es tímida, pero ella no es perezosa.

4 Gender Adjective Agreement
If an adjective ends in “o” it is describing a __________. To describe a female, the “o” must change to an “___”. Adjectives that end in “e” work for both masculine and feminine and don’t have to be changed. Adjectives that end in “or” are masculine and must change to “_____” to become feminine. Mi hijo es trabajador. (My son is hard-working.) Mi hija es trabajad_____ también. (My daughter is hard-working also.)

5 El pelo y los ojos Sometimes we can describe our physical characteristics by saying what we have using a form of the verb tener. In this case the adjectives don’t change to match the gender of who they are describing because they are describing “pelo” (hair) or “ojos” (eyes) which happen to be masculine words. ( el pelo, el ojo) Yo tengo ojos azules y pelo rubio. Tú tienes ojos verdes y pelo negro. Mi prima tiene ojos de color café y pelo muy largo. Mi esposa tiene ojos azules y pelo corto.
