6 So far, we have worked with 2 ways to say “the” in Spanish. el & la Ex: el sombrero/la camisa When learning new vocabulary ALWAYS study the definite article that goes with the nouns!! It is part of the word!

7 Does the “el” or “la” depend on if YOU are a boy or a girl??? NO!!! It has nothing to do with it. el sombrero is ALWAYS el sombrero whether a guy or girl is wearing it! Nouns work differently than adjectives. Remember the general rule about masc. vs. fem.!
