2 Using the Conditional Tense The Conditional tense is used in Spanish as it is in English. It is used to express what would take place under certain circumstances. Ex. Yo mandaría la carta pero no puedo. No tengo sellos. I would send the letter but I can’t. I don’t have stamps.

3 The Conditional Tense is also used to soften requests. Ex. ¿Me ayudarías, por favor? Would you help me, please?
