2 Formal vs. Informal Commands Formal commands are used in situations when you want to express respect to someone or you want to be really polite. 6 Mandatos y los pronombres Pronouns are used in the same way as they are used with formal commands. The accent will go on the second to the last syllable of the basic command form Be careful with single syllable commands. They need 2 pronouns in order to have an accent! Acuéstate. Diviértete. 7 Informal Commands Negative tú commands Take the 1 st person singular of the verb in the present tense, drop the “o” and switch the endings –ar = es; -er/-ir =as Just like negative Ud./Uds. commands! No abras tu libro. No cierres la puerta. No hables con tu hermano. No juegues al baloncesto. No busques tus llaves.
