5 Reflexive Verbs Yo me pongo el traje de lobo Nosotros nos ponemos tristes Tu te pones enojada a veces Vosotros os poneis los zapatos El / ella / Ud. se pone cansado Ellos / Ellas / Uds. se ponen el sueter  Me, te, nos, & os are used whether it is a reflexive verb, or direct or indirect object pronoun  SE is only used with reflexive verbs for both el/ ella /Ud. & ellos / ellas / Uds.  The me, te, se, etc. corresponds with the verb & means “to myself, to yourself, to himself, etc.) The SE, OS and NOS can also be used reflexively to mean “to each other” as in “Ellos se besan.” (They kiss each other.)

6 Pronombres de objectos directos The direct object tells who or what is “being thrown.” He throws the ball. What is he throwing? The ball! Él tira la pelota. > He throws it. Él la tira. It is posible to use Reflexive verbs and direct objects together: Yo me lo pongo [lo = el traje de lobo!] SingularPlural Me – meNos – us Te – youOs – you guys Lo – him, it, you (formal) La – her, it, you (formal) Los – them, you Las – them, you Remember, that the word OBJECT starts with “O” & Direct OBJECTS can be replaced with LO or LOS (or LA or LAS).

7 Indirect Object Pronouns An indirect object is a person (thing, animal, etc.) that is on the receiving end of an action. It’s the person or animal that is going to catch that throw! Él tira la pelota a ella. > He throws the ball to her. Él le tira la pelota a ella. (Le = to her) Of course you can say “He throws it to her” too. (Él se la tira).

8 Objectos indirectos So, indirect objects are the receivers of the ball, gift, idea, injection, etc. He throws the ball to Mario. Él tira la pelota a Mario. > He throws the ball to him. >> Él le tira la pelota (a él). **We also use indirect objects in “A ella, le gusta el futbol, etc.” because soccer is pleasing to her *(and gusta means is pleasing too!) SingularPlural Me – (to / for) meNos – (to / for) us Te – (to / for) youOs – (to / for) you guys Le – (to / for) him, her, youLes – (to / for) them, you Because “le” could be “to her”, “to him” or “to Ud.”, “a él,” “a ella,” or “a Ud.” is frequently added. Same with “les” for “a ellos”, “a Ud.” etc.
