2 Definition of Gifted STATE: pupil who is identified as possessing or demonstrating potential abilities that give evidence of high performance capability FEDERAL: children with outstanding talent perform or show the potential for performing at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared with others of their age, experience, or environment

12 How do I know if my child is gifted? Only 3-5% of the population are identified as gifted in any particular area. Gifted children can be gifted in many ways. Intellectually gifted children are not always high achievers. High achievers are not always gifted.

14 Read with your child. Find ways to help him act upon his caring. Locate other gifted children to serve as social contacts. Expose your child to new ideas, books, people. Help your child investigate areas of interest. Answer his questions or help him find the answers. Visit museums, concerts, plays, etc. Listen! HOW CAN I HELP MY GIFTED CHILD?
