Examples Imperfect: Él sabía la dirección de memoria. (He knew the address by heart.) Preterite: Él supo la dirección. (He found out the address.) Imperfect: Ella podía cantar como un pájaro. (She was able to sing like a bird.) Preterite: Ella pudo subir la montaña. (She managed to climb the mountain.) Imperfect: Él no quería estudiar química. (He didn’t want to study chemistry.) Preterite: Él no quiso estudiar química. (He refused to study chemistry.)
