¿Qué hora es? ¿Qué hora es? = What time is it? ¿A qué hora es _____? = What time is ____? (an event/activity) Remember: the clock is divided into two sections (before 30 and after 30). Use the verb “ser” with time.

Helpful expressions “y cuarto” = quarter past “y media” = half past “medianoche” = midnight “mediodia” = noon

Telling Time Use “y + minutes” for the number of minutes after the hour. (1-30) Son las doce. (12:00) Son las doce y diez. (12:10) Son las doce y media. (12:30)

Telling Time Use “menos + minutes” for the number of minutes before the hour. Son las tres. (3:00) Son las tres menos diez. (2:50) Son las tres menos cuarto. (2:45)

Talking about when something will happen… Use “a” to indicate “at.” ¿A qué hora empieza la clase? (At what time does the class begin?) La clase empieza a las diez. (The class begins at 10:00.)
