27 Características del Proyecto Semilla
Seeds and Seed Projects Características del Proyecto Semilla Motivado por las Intenciones de Dios Cubierta de oración Simple y corto Bien planeado Hecho con recursos locales No manipula Hecho para aquellos fuera de la iglesia Los beneficiarios participan El impacto integral es intencionalmente planificado Dios es alabado Methodologies: Unpacking Illustrations: Identified by ** in the contents notes. Content: Motivated by God’s Intentions – God’s Priority vs Men’s Rather than being motivated by human compassion that responds to observable felt need, Seed Projects are motivated by what we believe – through prayer and waiting for God to speak to us - God reveals the place He wants us to demonstrate His love. This “place” may or may not align itself with an observable felt need. Last Updated 7-07

28 Características del Proyecto Semilla
Seeds and Seed Projects Características del Proyecto Semilla Motivado por las intenciones de Dios Cubierto de oración Simple y corto Bien planeado Hecho con recursos locales No manipula Hecho para aquellos fuera de la iglesia Los beneficiarios participan El impacto integral es intencionalmente planificado Dios es alabado Methodologies: Unpacking Illustrations: Identified by ** in the contents notes. Content: Covered in Prayer Seed Projects need to be wrapped or immersed in prayer. We need to avoid coming up with our own ideas and then asking God to bless them. Instead, we begin our thinking about what we do and how we do it with the spirit that Paul advises of being in an attitude of constant openness to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Covered in prayer does NOT mean to pray in the beginning and then at the end – prayer is part of the process and should be planned into the whole process – throughout the process. We continue to seek God as we are planning, preparing and conducting our seed projects. We pray because we are listening to the Lord, we are dependent on the Lord and He is leading us. 29 Características del Proyecto Semilla
Seeds and Seed Projects Características del Proyecto Semilla Motivado por las intenciones de Dios Cubierta de oración Simple y corto Bien planeado Hecho con recursos locales No manipula Hecho para aquellos fuera de la iglesia Los beneficiarios participan El impacto integral es intencionalmente planificado Dios es alabado Methodologies: Unpacking Illustrations: Identified by ** in the contents notes. Content: Simple and Short In general, Seed Projects should not take longer to carry out than one or two days. This is not a rule but a guideline. Seed Projects may take much longer from the initial stages of planning through the evaluation. Typically, a Seed Project time line from the beginning of the plan through evaluation and planning the next project may take 2 to 3 weeks. But, the actual time for the project activity itself should generally be limited to one or two days. This is very important so that people will not take on huge or on-going projects that will discourage or overwhelm those organizing the seed project. Small, simple and short projects will allow for building confidence and success and will encourage others that this is a possible way of life. Last Updated 7-07

30 Características del Proyecto Semilla
Seeds and Seed Projects Características del Proyecto Semilla Motivado por las intenciones de Dios Cubierta de oración Simple y corto Bien planeado Hecho con recursos locales No manipula Hecho para aquellos fuera de la iglesia Los beneficiarios participan El impacto integral es intencionalmente planificado Dios es alabado Methodologies: Unpacking Illustrations: Identified by ** in the contents notes. Content: Well Planned Planning is biblical. This planning tool for Seed Projects – which you will learn later - is not only a template for planning Seed Projects but other activities. We take time to plan and think through what needs to be done, who will do it, what is needed, etc. Planning helps us to intentionally include all the aspects of the project that will bring glory to God. 31 Características del Proyecto Semilla
Seeds and Seed Projects Características del Proyecto Semilla Motivado por las intenciones de Dios Cubierta de oración Simple y corto Bien planeado Con recursos locales No manipula Hecho para aquellos fuera de la iglesia Los beneficiarios participan El impacto integral es intencionalmente planificado Dios es alabado Methodologies: Unpacking Illustrations: Identified by ** in the contents notes. Content: Local Resources The practice of Seed Projects doesn’t always rule out resources that are non-local. But the first number of Seed Projects that a church conducts, it is very, very important that the church sees that God will take the resources that are already in their hands when they are sacrificially given to serve others to multiply them for His glory and the extension of His Kingdom. 32 Características del Proyecto Semilla
Seeds and Seed Projects Características del Proyecto Semilla Motivado por las intenciones de Dios Cubierta de oración Simple y corto Bien planeado Hecho con recursos locales No manipula Hecho para aquellos fuera de la iglesia Los beneficiarios participan El impacto integral es intencionalmente planificado Dios es alabado Methodologies: Unpacking Illustrations: Identified by ** in the contents notes. Content: Does not manipulate Too many times we do our good works in order to evangelize. With our whole hearts we want to see people come to Christ. But, we need to serve others because there is a need and because we can – only. People can sense when we are serving them when we have an ulterior motive. They don’t like it. And, we, also, don’t like to be manipulated. God doesn’t give His blessings only to those who will come to Him. The rain falls both on the just and the unjust. If Jesus were healing the 10 lepers for the purpose of evangelism, He probably would have healed only one. But He reflected His Father’s heart in meeting the need for healing for all 10 lepers even though only one would return to Jesus in thanksgiving. Last Updated 7-07

33 Características del Proyecto Semilla
Seeds and Seed Projects Características del Proyecto Semilla Motivado por las intenciones de Dios Cubierta de oración Simple y corta Bien planeado Hecho con recursos locales No manipula Hecho para aquellos fuera de la iglesia Los beneficiarios participan El impacto integral es intencionalmente planificado Dios es alabado Methodologies: Unpacking Illustrations: Identified by ** in the contents notes. Content: Done for those outside the church It is good to serve those in the church but too many times the church’s service is only to those in the church. Seed Projects were designed specifically to allow those who are often never touched by God’s love to experience God’s concern for them through the hands and lives of believers. Last Updated 7-07

34 Características del Proyecto Semilla
Seeds and Seed Projects Características del Proyecto Semilla Motivado por las intenciones de Dios Cubierta de oración Simple y corta Bien planeado Hecho con recursos locales No manipula Done for those outside the church Hecho para aquellos fuera de la iglesia Los Beneficiarios participan El impacto integral es intencionalmente planificado Dios es alabado Methodologies: Unpacking Illustrations: Identified by ** in the contents notes. Content: Beneficiaries participate Remember the story of Ruth and Boaz? Boaz could have given Ruth the grain she needed. Instead he let her follow the workers and collect the grain she needed. That gave her the dignity of working for what she needed rather than making her a beggar. This same principle needs to be lived out in our Seed Projects by creatively finding some way in which those who are served can participate in the service that is directed toward them. Last Updated 7-07

35 Características del Proyecto Semilla
Seeds and Seed Projects Características del Proyecto Semilla Motivado por las intenciones de Dios Cubierta de oración Simple y corta Bien planeado Hecho con recursos locales No manipula Hecho para aquellos fuera de la iglesia Los beneficiarios participan El impacto integral es intencionalmente planificaco Dios es alabado Methodologies: Unpacking Illustrations: Identified by ** in the contents notes. Content: Plan intentional wholistic impact Although most projects have one specific or primary impact area, we know that God desires for growth of the whole person and for mankind to see His full intentions. Therefore, we encourage the planning to include intentional components from all four areas of Luke 2:52. One of the areas most often missed in planning is the Spiritual area. This is not intentional but it is a common oversight. As a result, the spiritual area as well as all other areas of Luke 2:52 need to be reflected in either a primary impact or a secondary impact of the project. So when planning, it is important to review the plan to see if all areas of God’s concern are reflected. Last Updated 7-07

Seeds and Seed Projects Características del Proyecto Semilla Motivado por las intenciones de Dios Cubierta de oración Simple y corta Bien planeado Hecho con recursos locales No manipula Hecho para aquellos fuera de la iglesia Los beneficiarios participan El impacto integral es intencionalmente planificado Dios es alabado Methodologies: Unpacking Illustrations: Identified by ** in the contents notes. Content: God is praised When the project is done, who gets the praise? The “good” people of the church or God? We need to do our Seed Project so that the people who receive the service or even see it give glory to God rather than to those who carry it out. Last Updated 7-07

Content: Explain that we will be looking at short explanations of possible Seed Projects. Based on what is said in these short statements, look for anything that would disqualify these ideas based on the 10 characteristics. As a facilitator, focus on encouraging the group to discuss why this would or would NOT be a good example of a seed project based on the purpose, definition and characteristics. Focus less on the answer than on the discussion and participant’s understanding of what would disqualify each statement. An additional question/activity could be to ask the group, “What could be changed to make this into a good Seed Project?” Game day for community children as an evangelistic outreach – Why or Why not?
