2 In order to ask the time in Spanish you need to say: ¿Qué hora es? index

3 When you tell time in Spanish you will use the verb ser. Note that you use es when it is one’clock and son when it is any other number. It is one o’clock Es la una. It is two o’clock Son las dos. It is three o’clock Son las tres. index

29 To sum it up… Add minutes with the word “y” when the big hand is on the right hand side of the clock! Subtract minutes from the hour that you are approaching by using “menos” when the big hand is on the left side of the clock! Use Es la between 12:31 and 1:30. Use Son las to say what time it is for all others
