3 Will will begin with the hour. 1:00- Es la una. 2:00- Son las dos. 3:00- Son las tres. 4:00- Son las cuatro. 5:00- Son las cinco. 6:00- Son las seis.

4 7:00- Son las siete. 8:00- Son las ocho. 9:00- Son las nueve. 10:00- Son las diez. 11:00- Son las once. 12:00- Son las doce.

5 Notice: Which time is different from all the rest? –Es la una. - Its one oclock. Yep! Es la una. Es la- is only used with 1. –Son las- is used with 2-12.

6 To add minutes use y 1:01- Es la una y uno. 2:02- Son las dos y dos. 3:03- Son las tres y tres. 4:04- Son las cuatro y cuatro. 5:05- Son las cinco y cinco. 6:06- Son las seis y seis.

7 To add minutes use y 7:10- Son las siete y diez. 8:15- Son las ocho y quince. 9:20- Son las nueve y veinte. 10:25- Son las diez y veinticinco. 11:30- Son las once y treinta.

14 Steps to say until Step 1 : Round up to the next hour Ex: 2:55 – we round up to 3:00 (Son las tres)

15 Steps to say until Step 2: Find out how many minutes there are between the two times. –Ex: Since there are 60 minutes in an hour and our clock says 2:55 we can subtract 55 from sixty (60 -55 = 5) to figure out the number of minutes until three. In this case there are 5.

16 S tep 3: Say the time. –Ex: Since 5 minutes will pass until the clock actually says 3:00, we have to subtract that five minutes from 3:00. So in English we say five til 3:00. In Spanish, we say 3:00 minus five. Son las tres menos cinco de la tarde.
