16 GRUPO ESTRUCTURA NUCLEAR Phase transitions in quantum many-body systems within algebraic models: Given two hamiltonians H 1 and H 2 that describe different system structures, a transitional hamiltonian can be constructed as H = x H 1 + (1-x) H 2 A QPT occurs at some critical value of the control parameter x that controls the relative weight of H 1 and H 2 Algebraic models are very well suited to study such hamiltonians since in that case H 1 and H 2 correspond to different dynamical symmetries. QPT's in boson, fermion and mixed systems can be studied.
