4 recipe Yield: 4 dozen Total Frying Time: Temperature: Medium-High Approx. 15 minutes Shortening Garlic Salt 12 Corn Tortillas* Red Chile Powder* (optional) Salt (optional) 1. Heat 2-inches of shortening in a heavy pan at medium-high heat. 2. Cut tortillas into quarters to within 1/2 inch from center of tortilla. 3. Fry tortillas until crist and drain well on absorbent towels. Separate each tortilla into four tostados. Tostados may be sprinkled with salt, garlic salt, or chile powder.

1817 – A Spanish dramatist and poet were born this year at Valladolid. Jose Zorrilla y Moral was educated by the Jesuits at the Real Seminario de Nobles in Madrid, wrote verses when Jose Zorrilla y Moral was twelve.   1833 – Jose Zorrilla y Moral was sent to study law at the University of Toledo, but after a year of idleness, Jose Zorrilla y Moral fled to Madrid, where Jose Zorrilla y Moral aghast the friends of his absolutist father by making aggressive speeches and by founding a newspaper which was promptly covered up by the government.   1837 – Jose Zorrilla y Moral published a book of verses, mostly imitations of Lamartine and Hugo, which was so favorably received that Jose Zorrilla y Moral printed six more volumes within three years.   1839 – Jose Zorrilla y Moral began his individual career as a dramatist with Cada cual con su razón

Born on December 1, 1949 into a lower-middle class family, young Pablo grew up in the Medellin suburb of Envigado. As a young man, he was driven and ambitious, telling friends and family that he wanted to be President of Colombia some day. He got his start as a street criminal: according to legend, he would steal tombstones, sandblast the names off of them, and resell them to crooked Panamanians. Later, he moved up to stealing cars. It was in the 1970’s that he found his path to wealth and power: drugs. He would buy coca paste in Bolivia and Peru, refine it, and transport it for sale in the US.
