Nuevas características Búsqueda rápida, fotos de usuarios, grupos anidados Nuevo modelo de diseño Estructura Eclipse Modelo Plug-in Gateway multiprotocolo avanzado The new client available with Sametime 7.1 will offer a new, updated design based on work from IBM Research, customer feedback, and design model that will be seen in future releases of Hannover and IBM Workplace offerings In addition to the updates in the user interface, it will offer a number of enhancements to the existing Connect Client experience, such as quick find, user photos/icons, and nested groups. It will also allow for completely new capabilities that advance what IM clients have traditionally been able to offer, such as location awareness (being able to display where the user is physically located at the time {More detail to be added on benefits of this features} The Sametime 7.1 IM client will be built on the Eclipse framework, which offers a number of benefits Unifies the Sametime Connect and Sametime Java Connect client Can serve as the IM client for both Sametime and Workplace Collaboration Services (SIP) protocols, providing an identical user experience while working against either presence server Provides a plug-in model that enables IBM, third-parties, and businesses themselves to add new functionality. With the increasingly important role presence is playing in ensuring the smooth, immediate flow of communications within a business, the ability to add in new functionality to an IM client, whether it be a soft-phone, video capabilities, calendar access, persistent chat rooms, or any other plug-in, is a very important capability. This release of Sametime will also feature a new advanced, multi-protocol gateway to increase the ease and managability of enterprise-to-enterprise connections. It will be built on a newer SIP stack and provide enhancements over the current Sametime/SIP gateway.

The meeting room client will be getting a facelift in order to offer improvements in navigation and access to Web conference tools. There will also be a enhancements made to application sharing and whiteboard performance and usability (and in particular, how files are uploaded and displayed through the whiteboard). The other key area of focus for this release is on ensuring that all participants are able to easily and quickly launch and attend a Web conference. We have a particular focus on addressing issues around java (JVM) and pop-up blockers, and Sametime 7.1 will provide specific indication of meeting entry progress to remove any possible sources of confusion during that process. Sametime 7.1 will also provide an “auto-reconnect” capability should there be any temporary disruptions in connectivity during the course of a meeting.
