2 Preterite Verbs You use the preterite to talk about actions that happened in the past that are viewed as completed.

9 Examples Escalé una montaña hoy. I climbed a mountian today.

10 -gar, -car, -zar verbs Remember that verbs ending in –gar, -car, and –zar have a spelling change ONLY in the yo form in the preterite. The other forms of these verbs are regular.
