What are some commands or orders that your parents give you? Clean your room! Open the door! Come your dinner! When you give someone an instruction or tell them what to do you are giving them a command.

3 ¿Recuerdas? To give a familiar command in Spanish (to someone you know) you use the third person present tense. Clean your room! Open the door! Eat your dinner! ¡Limpia tu cuarto! ¡Abre la puerta! ¡Come tu cena!

When you use a pronoun (reflexive pronouns) with an affirmative command, it will attach to the end of the command. Put on a shirt! Brush your teeth! Go home! Comb your hair! Dry off! ¡Ponte una camisa! ¡Lávate los dientes! ¡Vete a casa! ¡Péinate el pelo! ¡Sécate!

9 Negative Tú commands Hablo Vengo Vuelvo To form NEGATIVE tú commands:
Take the yo form of the verb. Drop the – o. Add the opposite ending of the infinitive. Hablo es -es for –ar verbs Vengo as -as for –ir verbs Vuelvo as -as for –er verbs

11 Negative Tú commands There are a few IRREGULAR negative commands. None of these will end in –o. Infinitive Negative tú command Dar (doy) Estar (estoy) Ir (voy) Ser (soy) ¡No les des mi dirección a nadie! ¡No estés triste! ¡No vayas a la tienda! ¡No seas mala!

Pronoun Placement In affirmative tú form commands: The pronoun (direct object, indirect object, or reflexive pronoun) is attached to the end of the command. ¡Ponte otra camisa! In NEGATIVE tú form commands: The pronoun MUST go in front of the command. ¡No lo uses!
