3 Decribing yourself and others Si quieres describir el aspecto físico de una persona, puedes decir: If you want to describe a person’s physical aspects, you can say: El Sr. Montálvez tiene bigote y barba, y es calvo. Mr. Montálvez has a mustache and a beard, and is bald. Mi prima Julia es pelirroja y tiene el pelo rizado. My cousin Julia is a redhead and has curly hair. Patricio es de estatura mediana y lleva lentes/anteojos. Patricio is of medium height and wears glasses. gafas = sunglasses

4 Si quieres describir la personalidad de una persona también, puedes decir: If you want to describe somebody’s personality you can also say: La profesora Minguillón es seria pero es muy buena gente. Mrs. Minguillón is serious, but a very good person. Florencio es pesado; ¡no hay quien lo aguante! Florencio is annoying; Nobody can stand him. Esteban es un tío estupendo. Esteban is a great guy. Mi novio es muy abierto y tiene un buen sentido del humor. My boyfriend is very open and has a great sense of humor.

16 saber vs. conocer Both saber and conocer mean to know. 1.Conocer means to know, to meet or see for the first time, or to be familiar with a person or a place. Remember to use the "personal a" when referring to a person. ¿Dónde conociste a tu amigo de Nueva York? ¿Conoces las playas de Galicia? C - onocer E - xpresses P - eople P - laces

17 2.Saber means to know a fact or to have information about something or someone. It also means to know how to do something when used with an infinitive. Quiero saber más de ti. Amparo sabe hablar francés. S - aber E - xpresses F - acts I – nformation S – kills H – ow to
