Asking “yes/no” questions To ask spoken questions that can be answered with a simple “yes” or “no,” simply raise the pitch of your voice at the end of the question. No INTERROGATIVE WORD is needed in these types of questions. When writing questions, be sure to use an upside down question mark to begin your question and close with a right side up question mark. Responding to “sí/no” questions If the answer is “sí”……. say “sí” followed by the rest of your response. Q: ¿Ella es bonita? A: Sí, ella es muy bonita. -or- Sí, es muy bonita. If the answer is “no”……. two “no’s” will be needed. The first one to mean “no” and the second one to mean “not.” Q: ¿Tú eres el profesor? A: No, yo no soy el profesor. -or- No, no soy el profesor.

Asking for more information To ask questions when wanting more information use an interrogative word at the beginning. ¿Cómo…..? (How….?) ¿Cúando…..? (When….?) ¿Quién…..? (Who…..?) ¿Cuánto(s)…..? (How many…..?) ¿(De)Dónde…..? (Where….?) ¿Qué…..? (What…?) ¿Cuál…. ? (Which…?)
