2  It is followed by the personal “a” and a place to indicate where a person is going.  It is followed by the personal “a” and an infinitive to say what a person is going to do.  Ejemplo: Ella va a la escuela.  She goes to school.  OR  She’s going to school.  Ej: Yo voy a estudiar.  I (am) going to study.

6  Ejemplos  I’m going to school.  Yo voy a la escuela.  We’re not going to the game.  Nosotros no vamos al partido.  When is she going home?  ¿Cuándo va ella a casa?

7  The preposition “a” means “to” or “toward”.  “A” contracts with the article “el” to form one word, “al”.  It does not contract with la, las, and los  Ej: En la escuela voy al laboratorio.  (voy a + el laboratorio)  Después de las clases voy al café.  (voy a + el café)  Y después voy a la biblioteca.

8  The preposition “de” means “of”, “from”, or “about”.  “De” contracts with the article “el” to form one word, “del”.  It does not contract with la, las, and los  Ej: Él habla del profesor de español.  (de + el = del)  El profesor es del estado de Nueva York.  (de + el = del)  Es de la ciudad de Nueva York.  Él es de los Estados Unidos.

9  Translate.  1. They’re going to the movies.  2. She’s going to study.  3. We’re going to talk.  4. I’m going home.  5. You’re going to the mall.  6. He’s going to listen.
